Neil Amondson is the Principal and founder of Hunter Light, an aggregate resources and project development firm. Amondson also serves as co-Founder and VP of NorthStar Transload to be the Bakken's largest rail transload facility for crude oil and import sand, located in E. Fairview, ND.

He has been involved in all aspects of the real estate development spectrum. Amondson, a former WA State Senator for SW Washington (1987-'94) has a "hands-on" understanding of the land use arena from both a regulatory and developer perspective. With experience in civil construction throughout the western United States, Amondson has served in a variety of capacities including Gen. Manager of one of the largest Urban Growth Area (UGA) expansions in WA State history.

Key to Amondson's success is the ability to bring diverse stakeholder opinions and objectives into a consensus based direction.

Dedicated to positive outcomes, Hunter Light pursues projects that bring value and creative opportunities to investors.

Hunter Light was founded by Neil Amondson. Hunter Light is involved in aggregate resources and project development. It's known for its role in the energy sector, particularly in resource management and infrastructure.

Transloading: This service, provided by various companies like NorthStar Transload (associated with Hunter Light), involves transferring goods from one mode of transportation to another, often from rail to truck or vice versa.

NorthStar Transload Stats

A multi-commodity inbound/outbound railroad and trucking transload terminal owned and operated by NorthStar Transloading (NST) serving the Bakken oil region of North Dakota. It is an engineer/procure/construct (EPC) project by Strobel/Starostka Construction, with Merrick and Company performing shop drawing reviews for NST and Ulteig performing resident project representative functions (RPR) to assist in observing the progress and quality of the project.

  • 400 acres

  • 2 miles long

  • 16 rail tracks (over 12 miles)

Capacities

  • 5 103,000-barrel crude tanks

  • 12 tanker trucks able to offload at a time

  • 20 rail cars able to be loaded at a time

  • 1 unit train per day (109-120 cars per train)

  • 6 2,500-ton natural sand silos

Project challenges

  • Road reconstruction for added heavy traffic

  • Modifications to irrigation canals and drainage ditches running through project site

  • Multiple state, county, utility and private stakeholders

Future expansion capabilities

  • 20-mile oil pipeline from Alexander, N.D., for crude transfer

  • Interconnect pipelines

  • Add-on to the load barn for an additional 20 load arms

  • Additional natural sand facility

  • Additional rail tracks, warehouses, crude tanks
