Former GOP Stogner Announces Campaign Intention under the Texas Forward Party

After finishing second in the Texas Railroad Commission Primary, Stogner is leaving the Republican Party to run as a third-party candidate under the Forward Party

Sarah Stogner recently announced at The Texas Tribune Festival that she is running her second campaign for the Texas Railroad Commission, leaving the Republican Party to run as a third-party candidate under the Forward Party.

Stogner, a 39-year-old oil and gas attorney, made headlines in 2022 with her well run and intelligent social media campaign and experienced a Republican runoff with incumbent Wayne Christian.

Christian, who Stogner accused of corruption during the campaign, won that race with 65% of the vote.

In the general election, Stogner endorsed Democratic nominee Luke Warford, who Christian defeated with more than 55% of the vote.

According to Stogner the Forward Party is a centrist political party co-founded by former presidential candidate Andrew Yang. Stogner is the first announced statewide candidate aligned with the party.

In this interview, Stogner joins award-winning media veteran Jason Spiess and former Bismarck Mayor and current Burleigh County Chairman Steve Bakken about her decision to run as a third party as well as what the Forward Party is.

Was She Targeted Or Was It Random?

According to Stogner, her blue Ford Expedition with license plate “UN1CRNS” was stolen from the second floor of the parking garage at the San Antonio Airport, Doubletree between 8 PM last night and 6:40 AM.

Stogner is asking for anyone who sees the car to call the police with its location. She added the vehicle still held various items including a passport, laptop, golf clubs, tally book, work bag, steel toe boots, and FR clothing.

“This is evidence of a lack of law and order,” Stogner said. “Time we elect leaders willing to do hard work to take back Texas.”

Stogner also expressed her concern that Ford will not allow her to activate her tracking device because it “needs to be activated from the car”.

When asked whether she felt that she was a “targeted” due to her popularity and campaign “against political corruption”, Stogner said she has no idea.

“I am not sure if it was random or targeted,” Stogner said.

When asked if any other vehicles were stolen or broken into from the San Antonio DoubleTree parking ramp, Stogner said she wasn’t aware of any other vehicles of people from that night.

Stogner added her colleague’s laptop was also stolen from the vehicle.
