Canadian Clean Energy, Popular Politics and a Layer of BRICS

Author, writer and blogger Terry Etam gives an energized update from a snowy Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Canada’s Greatest Export Terry Etam, author of The End of Fossil Fuel Insanity: Clearing the Air Before Cleaning the Air, columnist for the BOE Report and writer for Public Energy Number One, gives an update on the oil and gas activity north of the border.

Etam explains how the country’s view on oil and gas has changed under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Host Jason Spiess asked about political candidate Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.

The two discuss how Poilievre is dismantling reporters and standing his ground on many questions.

The two discuss workforce issues happening in Canada as well as the oil and gas activity.

Etam said the industry is steady right now, but questions what will happen this winter as some political rumblings have him concerned.

BRICS was also discussed in detail. Etam believes this is a wild card no one is talking about, or at least not enough to make it mainstream.

BRICS is a grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa formed by the 2010 addition of South Africa to the predecessor BRIC. The two discuss the value of the American and Canadian Dollar and how the military and energy supply is what drives the value at the end of the day.

Artificial Intelligence is another topic the two deep dove into. Etam said this is the greatest issue facing oil and gas right now.

Spiess related AI to the coal industry, which say mines and mountains go from 30 workers down to five or six. The two compare AI software and robots that took over many of the labor jobs in the coal industry to other industries facing the AI disruption.
