The Crude Life Media Mixer: Wind, Coal, Oil and ESG are this week's Talk of the Town

The Crude Life's founder Jason Spiess joins Talk of the Town with Steve Bakken as their energy expert on Wattage Wednesday.

The Crude Life’s founder Jason Spiess joins SuperTalk 1270’s Talk of the Town with Steve Bakken as an energy expert for their weekly themed Wattage Wednesday.

In addition to Spiess, Isaac Orr with the American Experiment joined the program to discuss how wind energy impacts coal as well as several other topics. According to Orr, almost every dollar that goes to wind energy is a dollar that directly impacts coal’s present and future. Which has not been positive for the coal industry.

The three also discussed how carbon and ethanol subsidies have become a billion-dollar-subsidy-loop that has become more political than positive.

Wattage Wednesday also covered various topics related to energy and environmental policy, including the implications of Minnesota's 100% carbon-free electricity mandate and the challenges of relying solely on renewable energy sources.

The conversation also touched on issues like ESG investing and carbon capture, as well as the need for balance and equilibrium in personal and professional life.

Other show topics:

- Consider energy and environmental policies that may affect your business or industry

- Investigate the financial incentives driving Excel Energy's push for carbon-free electricity

- Educate the public about the energy grid and challenges of relying solely on renewable energy sources

- Encourage a balanced approach to electricity generation and distribution that takes into account reliability and affordability

- Consider a mix of both renewable and stable sources of energy

- Promote awareness and education surrounding sustainable energy practices

- Research more about ESG investing and its impact on different industries

- Investigate alternative energy sources and the potential for balance between ESG considerations and maintaining energy supplies

- Invite Isaac Orr to speak further about his views on carbon capture in a future appearance or meeting

- Research and analyze the feasibility and costs of grids powered by wind, solar, and batteries compared to carbon capture

- Further investigate the potential political agendas attached to the use of carbon in environmentalism

- Research and consider the differences between STEM and STEAM education

- Stay informed about potential market manipulation and prioritize ethical investments

- Take steps to prevent personal information from being monitored by "Big Brother" entities

- Advocate for balance and equity in local politics and disaster response efforts.

Isaac Orr is a Policy Fellow at Center of the American Experiment, where he writes about energy and environmental issues, including mining and electricity policy.

Prior to joining Center of the America Experiment, Isaac served as a research fellow at The Heartland Institute, where he specialized in energy and environmental policy. Before becoming a research fellow at The Heartland Institute, he served as an aide in the Wisconsin State Senate.

Isaac has written extensively on hydraulic fracturing, frac sand mining and electricity policy, among other energy and environmental issues. His writings have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the New York Post, The Hill, Orange County Register, The Washington Times, and many other publications.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with studies in political science and geology, winning awards for his undergraduate geology research.

Weekly Sponsor:  Stephen Heins, The Practical Environmentalist

Historically, Heins has been a writer on subjects ranging from broadband and the US electricity grid, to environmental, energy and regulatory topics.

Heins is also a vocal advocate of the Internet of Everything, free trade, and global issues affecting the third of our planet that still lives in abject poverty.

Heins is troubled by the Carbon Tax, Cap & Trade, Carbon Offsets and Carbon Credits, because he questions their efficacy in solving the climate problem, are too gamable by rent seekers, and are fraught with unreliable accounting.

Heins worries that climate and other environmental reporting in the US and Europe has become too politicized, ignores the essential role carbon-based energy continues to play in the lives of billions, demonizes the promise and practicality of Nuclear Energy and cheerleads for renewable energy sources that cannot solve the real world problems of scarcity and poverty.

Look at what’s happened to me.
I can’t believe it myself.
Suddenly I’m down at the bottom of the world.
It should have been somebody else

Believe it or not, I’m walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-e-e.
Barterin’ away with some wings at the fair
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it’s just me
