North Dakota State School Superintendent and Administrator of the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler joins The Crude Life founder Jason Spiess to discuss the upcoming school year (2022) as well as a public meeting September 8 regarding Critical Race Theory.

According to Brookings.edu, Critical Race Theory is:

Simply put, critical race theory states that U.S. social institutions (e.g., the criminal justice system, education system, labor market, housing market, and healthcare system) are laced with racism embedded in laws, regulations, rules, and procedures that lead to differential outcomes by race.

Baesler gives a recap of the rise of Critical Race Theory within the state of North Dakota. She cites an interview with Tucker Carlson and Christopher Rufo on Fox News. Watch the interview below.

Baesler gives information on a public meeting scheduled September 8, 2022, in Bismarck regarding Critical Race Theory and the North Dakota education system.

The interview transitions into 4-day school weeks and year-round school systems. Baesler cites several pros and cons regarding the year-round schools and recaps some findings with the 4-day school week schools.

“Most of the 4-day schools are in Western North Dakota,” Baesler said. “We are finding that it is working very well.”

Everything from bus use to heating and cooling to sync’ing the schedule with a 9-5 work week is discussed in the interview. The main theme Baesler and host Jason Spiess discuss is how the current system is based on an Agrarian Society and whether it is time to revisit that framework.
