The Crude Life Week in Review Episode 506: Moving Digital Dirt, Women in Energy, EVolution Hybrid and Oil's Automation

The Energy Transition continues in oil, gas and career collaborations.

Here are this week’s special guests and energy experts on The Crude Life Week In Review Episode 506.

Energy professional Dennis Lindahl comments on whether the new ecological thriller "How to Blow Up a Pipeline" is appropriate for public venues and Netflix with an aggressive title.

How to Blow Up a Pipeline is a 2023 environmentalist action film directed by Daniel Goldhaber, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ariela Barer and Jordan Sjol. It relies on ideas advanced in Andreas Malm‘s 2021 book of the same name, published by Verso Books.

It stars Barer, Kristine FrosethLukas GageForrest GoodluckSasha LaneJayme LawsonMarcus ScribnerJake Weary and Irene Bedard.

According to Wikipedia, Malm’s book is a work of nonfiction that uses a history of social justice movements to argue that property destruction should be considered a valid tactic in the pursuit of environmental justice.

Luke Eggebraaten recaps his new book Moving Digital Dirt. Eggebraaten considers himself more than a serial dirt entrepreneur and a Dirt Bag Podcaster, so he used that momentum to springboard into becoming an author too.

The book “The Digital Dirt World” is now available on Amazon and is for a very small audience, according to Eggebraaten.

“This book is written for about 1% of people. We’re taking a deep dive into the fundamentals of digital marketing for construction companies,” Eggebraaten said. “This is for the construction management student that wants to understand how to market a construction company. I’m writing to the innovative and curious 63-year-old septic company president, who inherited the business from his great-grandfather and is motivated to keep it running and well-branded for future generations.”

Bobby Adkins, iTankData, joins The Crude Life Content News Correspondent Ken Lavin to discuss how time is money.  Adkins explains how their software is allowing companies to access real data on their phones and laptops in order to see uptime, downtime and other metrics.

“CFOs get it in a blink. Operational guys figure it out. Field guys they love it too cause it makes it a little easier on their lifestyle,” Adkins said.

Raw costs of production, downtime, pulling units are just a couple areas cited as examples of what their software detects.

“You can punch in your own data whether it is a 6 barrel a day well or 60 barrel a day, maybe it’s much larger with a horizontal,” Adkins said. “We are in 18 states and working with oil companies, chemical companies and even salt water.  This also helps with pick ups and deliveries in real time fashion.  These digital tools allow you to see your physical return.”

iTankData has 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  Services include remote tank level monitoring technologies and well site data. They also serve operators with daily needs in the oilfield, along with current information technology allows us to identify an operator’s cost and time lag issues.

The Voice of West Texas Kris Moore leads a discussion on energy issues and empowering women in oil and gas.

Franki Osburn gives advice for new women working in industry. The interview is conducted by The Voice of West Texas Kris Moore. Franki, a single mother of three, talks about her support system for her three children and how the industry has become a surrogate family.

Kenley Nebeker, TrainND and Levi Perkins, Perkins Electric Innovations with an update on EVolution Hybrid.

In the fourth part of this series following EVolution Hybrid, a project integrating a traditional semi truck with a combustion engine with a EV battery and electric vehicle technology we get an update on the engine features, roadblocks and successes.

In this exclusive interview with Levi Perkins, Perkins Electric Innovation, and Kenley Nebeker, TrainND Northwest, the two discuss how EVolution Hybrid is ready to take on these traditional challenges, plus a couple anticipated ones too.

In Part Three the challenge is towing and range anxiety.

“If we have  a greater amount of weight that we are towing or resistance whether it be a vertical incline or bad roads or a low tire, just things that will impact how much power we are using and increase the amount of amperage by the motor, and that would consume the battery quicker.”

Towing creates conversations about torque as well.

“The electric motors we are using they can build what we call Peak Torque at a really low if not zero RPM,” Perkins said. “This is different from a reciprocating piston where your peak torque could be at a specific RPM usually in the RPM range.”
