Cheaper Gas by Christmas? Goldman Sachs Thinks So
Goldman Sachs Group Inc., which has been among the most bullish banks on oil price outlook, has reportedly lowered its price forecasts once again in the wake of increasing global supplies and reducing demand.
The bank has now lowered its Brent oil price forecast for December to $86 a barrel compared to its previous estimate of $95 a barrel, according to a Bloomberg report. This is Goldman's third downward price revision in six months.
MHA Nation Buys Idle Pipeline from Enbridge
A Native American tribe in North Dakota bought an idle pipeline from the energy company Enbridge to help deliver oil from wells on its reservation to the broader market.
The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation announced the deal Friday but didn’t disclose how much it paid. The tribe said it expects the pipeline, which will connect its oil facilities on its Fort Berthold Reservation to Enbridge’s large pipeline network, will be up and running within a year.
“This is a major step in enhancing our ability to get our trust assets of oil and gas out to market,” tribal chair Mark Fox said to the Bismarck Tribune.
AI Will Transform Oil and Gas
From optimising operations and enhancing safety to boosting exploration and sustainability, the connection between AI and the oil and gas industry is multifaceted and holds significant potential for transforming diverse aspects of the sector, according to the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
At a recent workshop organised by the GECF, an array of renowned specialists from around the world explored the profound impact of AI and digital technologies on the energy sector and found practical applications of these technologies in the energy sector.
Mohamed Hamel, secretary general of the GECF said that although AI may seem like a relatively recent concept, its applications in the oil and gas sector have been in existence for a long period.
“Exploration, production, and marketing are domains where AI has made remarkable achievements. While we recognise the notable strides made in AI utilisation within the oil and gas industry, we must also acknowledge that the advent of large language models presents unparalleled opportunities,” he said.

Terry Etam, author of The End of the Fossil Fuel Insanity, writer for the BOE Report and blogger for Public Energy Number One explains the issue with rare earth minerals and the Energy Transition.
Terry Etam is a twenty-five-year veteran of Canada’s energy business. He has worked at a number of occupations spanning the finance, accounting, communications, and trading aspects of energy, and has written for several years on his own website Public Energy Number One and the widely-read industry site the BOE Report.
His goal is to kickstart new energy dialogues in a constructive manner as the world faces, and begins to understand, the real challenges of moving away from fossil fuels. In today's welcome but hyper-vigilant state of environmental scrutiny, where natural ecosystems are treasured and measured far more than ever before, any large-scale changes to energy infrastructure will face huge challenges, as any project manager can attest. It will be far, far harder than many imagine to move away from fossil fuels rapidly.
Mr. Etam has been called an industry thought leader and the most influential voice in the oil patch. He lives in Calgary, Alberta with his family and, for some reason, a little dog.
