With just three episodes left in its first season, Landman continues to be the show everyone’s talking about: the most successful Paramount+ series ever.
This episode, “All Roads Lead to a Hole,” delivered all the humor, heart, and high-stakes drama we’ve come to expect.
Landman Season 1 Episode 7 split the emotion between Angela and Ainsley’s asinine hijinks and Cooper’s decision to lay his head on Ariana’s pillow, as much of a home as he’s had in a very long time.
The gulf between those plotlines was jarring, with true life and future decisions juxtaposed with temporary choices that even the most forgiving couldn’t help but laugh at.
But that’s the Landman way. It’s a tough world, and living in it requires a certain je ne sais quoi that can only be found here and within the Taylor Sheridan universe.
Here are some highlights from the Landman Recap and Reaction Podcast with Warren Martin of Kansas Strong:
A Gold Diggers’ guide to Mother Daughter talks
The reality of banking, investing and finance in the oil and gas industry
First world champagne problems for the girls in the patch
The Father Daughter moment
An episode to humanize the industry
A step-by-step rich man’s guide on how to write off your wife’s salary via a nonprofit startup
Ali Larter has become a rock star with her acting and character development
The disappointing repetition of a narrative that felons and drug dealers are over “half the crew” on an oil rig
From Sheridan and co-creator Christian Wallace, the series is based on the podcast “Boomtown” and follows the upstairs/downstairs battle for land, oil and fortune in a West Texas boomtown. “Landman” stars Billy Bob Thornton alongside Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia, Michael Peña and Ali Larter, as well as Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie and Paulina Chávez.
Paramount Plus is the only way to watch the series. Following the premiere, one new installment will arrive every Sunday through Jan. 12.
