This Week In Energy: Landman Review, Carbon Capture, Supply Chain Issues and Rigs to Riches

Plus Nate Washburn from the Energy Information Administration gives an update on propane, diesel, gasoline and residential heating prices.

Here are the Special Guest, Industry Experts and Community Leaders in the episode of This Week In Energy for December 27, 2024:

Casey Gregersen, Big Horn Capital, explains why real estate is the next big opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors.

Casey is a serial entrepreneur in multiple industries as well as a former Petroleum Engineer for Shell. Driving strategy and performance across the Gregersen Corporate Group is where most of his efforts are stationed as he develops team leaders in each company. As he leads the sales team, he is also responsible for developing the best solutions for property sellers and investors in each market.

Casey’s vision remains the driving force behind the productivity in each team across the corporate group. Casey is also a husband, father of 4 boys, visionary, serial-entrepreneur, and professional real estate investor. His passion is to help others reach their financial freedom through passive income in real estate.

Over the past decade, he’s invested in hundreds of deals. From wholesaling, fix and flipping, buy and hold, he’s built business around each process of investing. His teams are able to acquire properties, fix them up, and get them sold in each of the markets he’s operating in.

Nate Washburn, Energy Information Administration, gives an update on propane, diesel, gasoline and residential heating prices.

The average retail price for home heating oil rose 1.6 cents from last week to $3.55 per gallon. That's down 44.8 cents from a year ago, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region are at $3.53 per gallon up 2.2 cents from last week, but down 45.3 cents from a year ago.

The average retail price for propane is $2.52 per gallon, up 6-tenths of a cent from last week's price, and up 5.6 cents from a year ago, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Propane prices in the Midwest region averaged $2.02 per gallon, up 7-tenths of a cent from last week, and up 3.1 cents from a year ago.

The U.S. average retail price for on-highway diesel fuel decreased to $3.48 a gallon on Monday. That's down 1.8 cents from a week ago, based on the weekly price survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Executive Coach Joe Sinnott, Witting Partners, and the host of The Energy Detox Podcast joins Jason Spiess to breakdown the executive decisions involved with benching Kirk Cousins and how they have handled the situation.

The two also discuss how organizations and management handles alternative information in decision making processes, like the New York Jets owner relying on Madden scores in NFL scouting.

Culture changes are discussed using the Southern Methodist University Penn State Playoff Game as the backdrop. Both universities had to change their culture in order to see future success.

With just three episodes left in its first season, Landman continues to be the show everyone’s talking about: the most successful Paramount+ series ever. Warren Martin of Kansas Strong joins us weekly for a Landman Recap and Reaction.

This episode, “All Roads Lead to a Hole,” delivered all the humor, heart, and high-stakes drama we’ve come to expect.

Landman Season 1 Episode 7 split the emotion between Angela and Ainsley’s asinine hijinks and Cooper’s decision to lay his head on Ariana’s pillow, as much of a home as he’s had in a very long time.

The gulf between those plotlines was jarring, with true life and future decisions juxtaposed with temporary choices that even the most forgiving couldn’t help but laugh at.

But that’s the Landman way. It’s a tough world, and living in it requires a certain je ne sais quoi that can only be found here and within the Taylor Sheridan universe.

Blockchain for Energy (B4E), is the energy industry’s first comprehensive emissions management solution, leveraging blockchain, artificial intelligence, and IoT systems.

Camilo Mejia, Enovate and Rebecca Hofmann, Blockchain for Energy, discuss how Blockchain for Energy is integrating into the industrial sector through a variety of ways.

“Blockchain for energy is actually a member-led consortium made up of energy companies that leaned in and said ‘let’s come and find a way to learn more about this technology and how we can use it for our companies,’” Hoffman said. “So the actual mission of blockchain for energy is to drive industry innovation beyond traditional technological boundaries.”

Mark Workman, RMI Supply, gives an update from the supply chain logistical point of view as well as an update on his observations in the market.

Folding in the amount of uncertainty in industry, coming from leadership, the media and politicians regarding oil and gas, Workman dives deep into service and accountability. This organically created a conversation involving the realities of trust and integrity in the marketplace.

“You need to be able to call your customer within 30 seconds and finding that information out and telling the truth,” Workman said. “A lot of logistics is based on the idea of being truthful and then you know quick with your responses and literally that’s how i’ve ever established my business or grown this oil field side of the business since 2009.”

Workman continues explaining how customers need information, not manufactured happiness or misinformation.

“I literally have my customers tell me how quick I respond to things and answer questions and that kind of thing,” Workman said. “So it’s very important to me to respond quickly.”

Singer Songwriters featured this week: Woody Pines, Moody River Band and Blind Joe.
