OP/ED: Energy Security is a Real Problem Around the World
California which has become an energy liability to the United States’ energy security.
California's 4th largest economy in the world imports most of its crude oil demands from foreign countries to run the States’ 9 International airports, 41 Military airports, and 3 of the largest shipping ports in America.
Seems that no one remembers the Oil Embargo of 1973!
50 years after the oil embargo crisis of 1973, no American policy for energy independence. America continues to INCREASE its energy dependence on China for “green”, and on OPEC and Russia for oil. Today, with LESS energy independence, America is more vulnerable to another embargo than we were 50 years ago!
46 years ago in 1977, in the aftermath of the 1973 oil crisis, the Department of Energy was established to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Today, with 16,000 employees and a $31 billion dollar budget, California, the 4th largest economy in the world, is importing more oil than ever!
Over the same 46-year period, California Governors have been continually decreasing in-state oil production. Their emissions policies continue to force California, the 4th largest economy in the world, to be the only state in contiguous America that imports most of its crude oil feedstock to in-state refineries from foreign countries.
Today, California seems to remain exempt from the directive to the Depart of Energy more than four decades ago to lessen our dependence on foreign oil, as California is importing most of its crude oil demands from foreign countries, to support the States’ 9 International airports, 41 Military airports, and 3 of the largest shipping ports in America!
OP/ED is written by Ronald Stein.
Ronald Stein is an engineer, senior policy advisor on energy literacy for the Heartland Institute and CFACT, and co-author of the Pulitzer Prize nominated book “Clean Energy Exploitations.”
Stein started his career as a project manager at Fluor in July 1964. Later he worked as a project manager in Jaws Attraction, Florida, at Universal Studios in 1987.
He established PTS Staffing in April 1995. Since 2010, he has written different Op-eds about the energy sector and conservation. Stein started Energy Literacy, an initiative for educating the public about energy topics. He is a policy advisor on energy literacy at Heartland Institute and The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT).
Stein has been named as the private business spokesperson for the energy industry. He has started an initiative for Energy Literacy, where he shares books, podcasts, and articles to educate people about the energy sector.
Stein is an energy agnostic, and supplies in-depth discussions and explanations about energy-related subjects for the public to become energy literate about the many sides of renewable electricity, and the products manufactured from fossil fuels, that support lifestyles and economies around the world.
Renewables and fossil fuels are different. Fossil fuels are primarily used to manufacture products and fuels for humanity, while renewables only generate electricity but manufacture nothing for humanity.
In 2020, PTS was renamed as PTS Advance, and Stein became its Ambassador for Energy & Infrastructure. Stein is also a columnist and co-author of three books.
His work has been featured in the Eurasia Review, the Heartland Institute, the Cornwall Alliance, and New Geography.
The Carbon Conference 2024 will bring sustainable stakeholders and energy enthusiasts together that wish to capture CO2 emissions safely and transport the CO2 via pipelines, allowing the captured CO2 to be permanently stored in deep underground formations. The Carbon Conference 2024 is dedicated to advancing the necessary conversation regarding carbon emissions, capture, transportation, and storage.
The Conference Center at the Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the perfect venue to encourage productive discussions and diverse dialogue - both pro and con - everyone’s voice will be heard in order to find a positive path forward for all parties concerned.
The Carbon Conference has partnered with the Energy Exposition & Resources Symposium for multiple reasons. Their 25 years of successful Energy Exposition conferences is extremely valuable experience in the Carbon Conference's first year, however what may be more important is why it started.
Over 25 years ago, Wyoming was in the middle of an energy dispute similar to the carbon pipeline and storage issues. The Energy Exposition was started in order to broker peace and bring all voices to the table in a conference format. Twenty-five years later a similar situation is presented in the world of carbon.
We believe this partnership with the Energy Exposition & Resources Symposium will ensure fair deals will get done and peace will be brokered at the Carbon Conference 2024 Las Vegas.
The Carbon Conference is limited to 500 stakeholders, policymakers, impacted parties, and industry experts to ensure a solution-focused event, bringing together as many decision-makers to the table in order to discuss all the pressing issues related to carbon emissions.
We encourage you and/or your company to participate in this remarkable event. Sponsorships will not only allow your participation at the conference, but also provide your company with valuable exposure to a diverse audience of multi-industry professionals and stakeholders.
