Oil, Gas Rig Activity Increases in Oklahoma, Dips in Texas

As Oklahoma saw a gain in the number of oil and gas rigs throughout the state, the nation’s rig count declined in the past week, according to the Baker Hughes rig report released Friday Baker Hughes said Oklahoma’s count increased by one to a total of 44 active rigs, two more than one year ago.
The nation’s count fell by four rigs to 576 and included a decline of six oil rigs, leaving 472, and an addition of one gas rig to 99. The number of miscellaneous rigs grew one to five. The number of offshore rigs was unchanged at 14.
The U.S. count is still 45 fewer than the 621 rigs reported one year ago and the decline included the loss of 27 oil rigs and 20 gas rigs while the miscellaneous count increased by two.
Of the remaining states that comprise of the nation’s oil and gas exploration, Texas recorded a drop of four rigs to 277 while New Mexico’s count fell by one rig to 102. North Dakota was unchanged in the past week with 32 rigs.
Colorado remained at nine rigs while the Red Top Rig Report in Kansas showed the state’s total was unchanged at 17 rigs. Louisiana continued with 29 rigs and Ohio remained at nine. Pennsylvania stayed at 15 rigs while Utah’s count of 11 was unchanged.
West Virginia had no change in its count of 10 rigs and Wyoming stayed at 19 rigs.
