Energy Transition, Kamala's Energy Policy are the Talk of the Town

The Crude Life founder Jason Spiess joins TownSquare Media's Talk of the Town with Steve Bakken to preview This Week in Energy.

The Crude Life founder Jason Spiess joins TownSquare Media's Talk of the Town with Steve Bakken to preview This Week in Energy.

The two start off with the linguistical, nomiclature and marketing behind “Energy Transition”. Spiess, a former editor of 20 years, explains how when you transition from one this to another, generally you retire or stop using the other. The discussion stems from This Week In Energy’s upcoming interview with Warren Martin of Kansas Strong.

“Like Warren Martin says so articulately in our interview, if I transition from a Ford to a Toyota, I stop driving the Ford,” Spiess said.

That transition talk segwayed into Kamala Harris’ Energy Policy and how it would impact the oil and gas industry as well as the nation. Several talking points from the radio segment:

  • Opposition to Hydraulic Fracturing: As a presidential candidate in 2019, Harris supported a ban on hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as fracking.

  • Climate Policy Focus: Harris has been an advocate for aggressive climate policies. As Vice President, she has been part of the Biden administration’s efforts to lower emissions by funding the transition to green energy.

  • Population Control: Harris has been on record a number of times stating that she will help reduce the planet’s population.

  • Conflict with the Oil Sector: Harris’ stance on banning fracking and her strong green energy policies have made her an adversary to the oil sector, particularly in states like Texas where the industry is a significant economic driver.

The two also discuss carbon capture and pipeline subsidies.
