$219M Permian Basin oil and gas land sale closes, company to cash-in on region's growth

Denver-based oil and gas company Sitio Royalties continued to up its presence in the Permian Basin, buying up more land in the U.S.’ busiest oilfield as energy markets continue to grow amid renewed demand following the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April 2020, the price per barrel of domestic oil fell as low as -$40 a barrel amid travel and busines restrictions intended to slow the spread of the virus but also stymied energy demand.

But as vaccines became widely available, restrictions were lifted and demand quickly outpaced supply after production was reduced following 2020’s plummeting prices.

U.S. Politicians Have Bought These 3 Oil & Gas Stocks

Investors will be intrigued to know that many U.S. politicians have deep knowledge of and broad exposure to the country’s stock market. In the past six months, many politicians have invested in the oil and gas industry, with the top three stocks being Baker Hughes Company (NASDAQ: BKR), Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. (NYSE: MMP), and Pioneer Natural Resources Company (NYSE: PXD).

It is worth mentioning that the oil and gas industry has been one of the most profitable industries so far in 2022. While the broader market suffered from domestic and international uncertainties, the U.S. oil and gas companies benefited from higher oil and gas prices, heavy demand, and restricted supply, which was also, to some extent, triggered by the Ukraine-Russia war.

With government and industry initiatives, the production levels have strengthened lately, resulting in price corrections for oil and natural gas. Despite this, the WTI crude oil price is up 19% since the beginning of 2022, while the natural gas prices reflect a year-to-date gain of 109.7%.

'Easter eggs' in climate bill delight oil and gas industry

The oil and gas industry doesn’t hate the climate bill.

The industry as a whole isn’t yet embracing the $700 billion-plus reconciliation deal, which would penalize some forms of fossil fuel pollution while making one of the largest investments in clean energy in U.S. history. But the legislation also contains what some called “Easter eggs” that would benefit oil and gas companies, including access to new swaths of federal waters in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.

“There are some things in there that are helpful to our business,” Rich Walsh, senior vice president and general counsel at Valero, one of the country’s largest fuel refiners, said during an earnings call Thursday with investors.

The Real Dangers of ESG

Since 2015, I've personally interviewed over 100 professionals about their organization's ESG methodology, and several predictions or comments stand out more than others.

I’ve heard everything from ESG will save the planet and humanity to ESG is designed to take out capitalism and the free market.

Most of the people I've spoken to assume that investing in ESG programs are designed to highlight, showcase and reward companies that are helping the collective movement to "save the planet".

Here's the bottom line near the top in Paragraph Five - ESG ratings are based on “single materiality”, which is basically how your organizational choices impact of the changing world on a company P&L, not the reverse.

The Industrial Forest

Over 50% of the trees planted by government and non profits die within the first year. This wastes time and resources causing more harm than good. This also puts companies and corporations at risk for their donations.

This is another eco-issue. Luckily there is an Eco-Answer. It's The Industrial Forest

The Crude Life has become an environmental leader and is helping build a healthy, sustainable Forest that is assisting in education on how energy and environment can and will co-exist. How working together makes each other better, stronger and healthier.

Historically, Heins has been a writer on subjects ranging from broadband and the US electricity grid, to environmental, energy and regulatory topics.

Heins is also a vocal advocate of the Internet of Everything, free trade, and global issues affecting the third of our planet that still lives in abject poverty.

Heins is troubled by the Carbon Tax, Cap & Trade, Carbon Offsets and Carbon Credits, because he questions their efficacy in solving the climate problem, are too gamable by rent seekers, and are fraught with unreliable accounting.

Heins worries that climate and other environmental reporting in the US and Europe has become too politicized, ignores the essential role carbon-based energy continues to play in the lives of billions, demonizes the promise and practicality of Nuclear Energy and cheerleads for renewable energy sources that cannot solve the real world problems of scarcity and poverty.
